Yes, that's him. He has a great album called Electric Bath, which I really recommend. It's electric big band music. Very psychedelic. He also plays on "Brown Shoes Don't Make It" by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention--probably his most famous work besides The French Connection.

He does some really good stuff,I have to admit my favourite is actually the french connection 2 soundtrack it has some really funky and fast rhythm
