Here's an ornamentation atop a simple, two-story building. There are such cool things to be seen on these old structures - if we just look up.

What is it? Very interesting -- castle turret architecture in a lake!
It's part of the infrastructure in a reservoir for town water supply, it gives the workers access to a cut off valve.

Happy Valley Reservoir in Adelaide's southern suburbs. Here's an historic picture of the tower when it was first built, before they flooded the valley:

I don't know how many times I said "wow", "ooh", etc looking at the old picture and the hills in the background. So amazing to think of how much water that is!

Here's a broader image, today it's a public park with walking trails and picnic areas. I probably could have positioned myself better for a close up picture of the tower but there was a family having a picnic in that spot and I didn't want to disturb them.
