Nice night for a walk, Kinsmen Park, Strathmore, AB, 2026-01-13.webp

This is why I always have a pair of crampons in my walking pack in the winter. Blessed skating rink out there last night for sure.

that was with a phone or done with a digital camera.
They're all digital cameras, it just comes down to lens and sensor differences.

In this case it was a drone hovering 0.2m above the ice 0.78km from my home. Not accessible easily on foot.

24 images shot in portrait orientation in groups of 3 exposure brackets, 8 final HDR images merged in Photoshop.

Process explained here.

I had actually wondered if it was a drone given the ice didn't look terribly stable. But I also thought perhaps it could have been just a small river and you were on the other bank. I used to have a DJI Phantom 3 not the pro model, but even the standard still took some amazing shots.

I apologize for not having explained why my photos took a different turn. On Monday the 5th, I flew down to Florida to visit with friends in Boca Raton. The return trip to New York will be this coming Tuesday.

Thanks for sharing. VERY cool.

One question- At such altitudes is it imperative to exclusively use center-weighted/averaged metering ?

Only recently have I come to the conclusion that I have used center-weighted averaging far too often. Resulting occasionally in less-than-optimal focusing.
