Job Interview Update

Mattymatt

Imperfectly Perfect
I had an interview for a work from home call center position which I think went pretty well. They tell me I should hear a definitive yes or no answer by the end of the week. They are also going to supply me a computer and monitor. This was kind of a surprise considering I thought that job description required having one. The interview was pretty basic and consisted of a "What would you do if ..." scenario. I walked the interviewer through a process of turning the WiFi on on an Android phone.

I seem to do well with call-center jobs as there is a lack of reading or displaying body-language. I find them to often be restful.

One can also surf the internet when it is slow, or read. Being at home sounds like it could be fun at times!

The rejection email came into my inbox today. Crap! When it rains it pours. Nothing came from any of the interviews this week. It's looking more and more like I will need to go back to driving a truck over the road.

So sorry Mattymatt! But don't give up! Your turn will come. We are rooting for you!

Oh, I am so sorry for you. Bummer! My jobs are tanking too. My back pain is so bad, I went in 1.5 hours late today waiting for the pain pills to kick in. I sent an email explaining what pain I am in lugging / lifting the huge heavy garden hoses around, and winding back on the holders. I am asking for cut hours. I cannot afford this mind you, but I also see a physical therapist and just saw a back surgeon last week too. Great huh? I been at this job 1 week. It’s physical, and I am failing due to 100 foot garden hoses! I detest failure in myself. Arthritis and degenerative disc disease is making me fail.

The other part time job was going to let me know in a day, but a day after, said that there were holdups and would let me know next week. Hmmm, weird.

So, know you are not alone. I hope you get something soon. I hate job interviews, and applications, and the waiting. Please keep us posted MattyMatt

Sadly, I am getting used to failure. It's just another day in my life.

That's disappointing news Mattymatt; sorry to read that you're getting used to failure.

Hopefully you'll be able to turn that thought around into the interview being a good learning experience. Ask for feedback from your interview if possible as it'll be useful for you to know what you need to improve on for future interviews.

This reminds me of an episode of King of The Hill, where all of the guys are extremely impressed with how many dates Boomhower goes on. Late in the episode they show his "technique" for success . . . he goes to the mall and asks every woman out on a date until he finds a date. The end result is a date, and everyone thinks he is successful at finding them . . . even though his success rate was not stellar.
