Lots of people here who love Japan, so I'll share this. Hitachi AM radio from the 1980s, made for the Japanese domestic market. Found at the local flea market for $9.

Far nicer than the AM radios sold in the US during this era, which were made mainly in Taiwan and Hong Kong and based on early 70s technology. Uses 2 x AAA batteries. Works, and has a little LED to let you know when you've got a station.

Yup. Our "rulers" are narcissistic as all get out. They cover it all, and don't you ever think they don't. Haha.

Sorry, I had to.

Our rulers have both
You do still get rulers with both scales on them here but they're not as common as they used to be. We went metric more than 50 years ago and many of the younger generations only have a very vague idea of what an inch is.

My first transistorized AM radio was given to me in 1962 when I was six years old.

I still remember the brand- "Top Flight". Apparently they have some value to collectors. Back then as a kid I absolutely adored any electrical device that was small. Especially a five-inch tv.

I still have my Sony 9-inch color tv....have no intention of ever tossing it out. Though my portable AM/FM Radioshack radio is half the size of my childhood Top Flight. Still runs fine too.
