Is this a sign of Autism?

Hi, I am not diagnosed with any form of Autism. I find that I lean towards descriptions of Asperger's, which would make sense as my brother has been diagnosed. One thing I've found that I do, which I correlate with shying from social settings, is that I get extremely nervous when approaching a vacation destination. Every year my family goes to a quiet beach and when we get close I begin to physically shake, feel a weight in my gut, and my palms sweat. My thoughts in these moments aren't clear. It happens during other events but consistently upon arriving to long trips. I can't find any relatable discussions online so I figured I'd ask here. Is this a sign?

It sounds like social anxiety disorder and you're getting panic attacks
There are some people on the autism spectrum who extrovert !there seem to be a lot of people on the autism spectrum who are introvert and socialising is very painful ,I can't say for definite . A psychologist would usually want to know how you behaved when your child as autism is noticed in very young children ,it can be diagnosed afterwards but usually parents guardians or teachers notice your behaviour when you were very young .

Welcome to AC, APSprout.

Hard to say but also every aspie/auti is different. We would need some more contex to be sure, seeing as it could as well be anxiety/panic attack related or not to past experiences(that, of course, does not mean it is not your potential trait).

Also, no one can diagnose you but you yourself or a capable professional. I would suggest you to check more typical signs in your life, as well as ask yourself why you are feeling this way? Is it the change? Unpredictability of the place? Expectations from your family? Something connected to the place itself, like water sources/mountains/great cities?

What you describe in and of itself does not sound specifically autistic.
It does sound like anxiety.
Anxiety is not always linked to autism.
Many autistics do have anxiety disorders.

You might like to read more about ASD traits and try some mindfulness exercises and see if you can identify what you are feeling during these episodes.
