Earlier this year, I pledged money to be in a short film, as an extra. I was in this scene way back in February where I was a drunk guy approaching a tunnel on a street in Edinburgh. My sister was in the scene with me, because I have anxiety issues and find it hard to go by myself to these sort of things, and I don't have support workers any longer. I paid £70 on Indiegogo just to be in it.
I have yet to get a copy of this film on DVD. That was part of the perk. Normally, the perk states when you will get the actual perk related stuff, and whatnot, but for this particular production, it doesn't say anything on the campaign page. I'm an extra in it, sure, but I've never gotten a copy of the film, nor is it anywhere online. Similarly, I paid £200 to be an extra in a Blade Runner type short film, and I have not really heard much from the director in terms of the filming dates, but it is listed as being in post-production now on IMDb.com, which is odd, because it's supposedly not complete. When I contacted Indiegogo to express my concern, they made out my £200 was a donation, and it wasn't for a perk. That is nonsense. The page states if you pay £200, you get to be an extra, and now the director is emailing me saying he has yet to find a date for the opening scene. The lack of emails from the guy has me somewhat worried. It even says the film was to be shot in August and September, so that time period is obviously over, and there have been Tweets about it.
I happened to message the producer who worked on that film called Flight when she was overseas ages ago, and she blocked me on Facebook. I then made another account to ask her why she blocked me, as it seemed rather impolite to block a guy just for asking a simple question. Because she was in Australia at the time, I commented about a band named Cold Chisel from there, just to be nice. No harm intended. Blocked!
She just gave me all this crap about me messaging her "private account" (it ain't private) and she says it's up to the director when it gets distributed, but she could have at least explained all that before blocking my other profile. Anyway, I think a lot of these producers are only out for themselves. They take your cash, and then run off.
I've also been a victim of blackballing in the past. It's a nasty activity where a person anonymously contacts other people, saying statements about you so other people don't give you work. This snooty actress called Nicolette McKeown who posts about me on Twitter, then contacted a guy making a thriller, and when he was posting on Facebook, he blocked me for asking to be an extra in his upcoming feature film about a year ago. I checked his list of friends after rejoining, and saw she was there. He was asking for £700 donations on Indiegogo recently for his Scottish indie film. What a cheek!
Anyway, I'm sure he then contacted this other director who was making a film too, because he had an ad about recruiting extras as well, then fobbed me off by saying they didn't need any extras when the ad clearly stated he did. Now, if somebody is being so darn sad and doing this, it's rather low. Also, in some films where the people involved may know her, I noticed they are perhaps doing the shots I'm in, in such a way where I am not really seen, because I've observed that they space people out, but have it where I cannot be noticed. It's as good as not being in the film at all. I'm sure it's because they've been contacted behind the scenes with slanderous remarks about me and the problems with my ex support workers, which has zero to do with them.
Then again, I may be exaggerating, but I know my nemesis knows a lot of these people online, even if she hasn't met them, so it's possibly not as crazy as it seems (I've a sixth sense when it comes to a-holes anyway, as I've dealt with so many of them for 16 years). I've also paid money to get a 'special thanks' credit in place of appearing in certain film projects, then when they see my YouTube videos which clearly reveals to them I could have autism, they just block me. I'm going to write to the Filmhouse bar where that producer works and express how I've been mistreated by people in the industry, and by my ex support workers, and the court system. Other people who wronged me are soon going to be receiving love letters too and possibly restraining orders. Well, it's nothing derogatory, but I will give them a piece of my mind.
My mother told me to stop handing over money to people though.
