If you could change your name, what would it be?

Mary Terry is not my real name. I was named for four living people but I have always been called a name that is not my given name. It has been trouble all my life. I wish my parents had simply added the name they always called me to the name they bestowed on me at birth. They did the same thing to my little brother. If I could change my name, I'd just add the name I've always been called, to my name given at birth.

I didn't like my name in the childhood, probably because I heard it from the lips of my abusive parents. But now I love it. Anna is a strong, short, beautiful female name. And I like that it's a palindrome!
If I had to change it I would go with something like Morrigan, Morgana, Desdemona and that type of thing, with gothic witch-y vibes.

heh, Morgana is the name of the Cat creature from persona 5. Desdemona sounds beautiful but I think people would give you the nickname Desmond, Des or Mona unfortunately :C.

Well... that is a really good question, I got two names from my parents.

When i was younger I asked them, why did I get two? - their answer were, so you have a choice, I then choose the other of the two than what they used, and was told, it wasn't my choice....

I really don't like the name they choosed, I think mostly bc I connect it with my childhood, being a undiagnosed kid that had a hard time, rather than bc there is something wrong with the name it self... but I still don't like it.... and it has become a middle name i never use...

I have been Kriss on the Internet for more than 30 years, so the real question is, why don't I fill out the forms pay the fee, and change it officially to Kriss.... anyway, if i had to choose my name, it would be Kriss...

I don’t go by my legal name. Pretty much everyone calls me Lou.

When I changed my name legally (I hated the name I was born with, it was clearly not well thought out) I was also considering Chloe, Aili, Hannah, Emily, Nikki, Jordana, Lily, Vanessa, Louisa, Angel, Willow, or Cherry.

Quite a range of choices lol but my current legal and middle name came out on top. I go by Lou as shorthand for my middle name.

I am quite satisfied with my original names. First and middle have Greek/Hebrew roots and put together mean
"Gift of a lily."
The only other name I can think of I would like is Davida. Only because I wish I had been born male and I would have wanted the name David.

Quite possibly no name at all.
That reminds me of this old joke:
Q: What do you call a dog with no legs...?
A: It does not matter. He isn't coming anyway...!

^ You could always change your legal name to... nameless. :)
Then there is the literary classic "No Man."

I ended up changing my last name so I would not have to take sides in my parents' divorce. My first & middle names have ties to both sides so they are not a problem.

Onomastics is one of my hobbies, so I cannot think of any reason why another given name would be any more advantageous.
