Hello! We just found out last week that my husband has Aspergers. Nope it's not the end of the world, but it has definitely thrown us a curve ball. Although it has put a lot of pieces together for us as well. We re-working through this new beginning, but are going to need lots of education on this. Thanks!

Take it slow. Your husband may have a lot of traits and behaviors that are due to autism spectrum disorder, but I'm certain he also has a lot of traits and behaviors that are due to being a human. It's so hard to tease these out!

I have so many different emotions going on. We go to our 1st support meeting this evening. It's been a tough marriage for 23 years. A lot of hurt on both ends. Had we of known.....well you know the story.

A couple of things to bear in mind,

1. Aspergers ASD1 is not a mental illness. It is a neurological analogue to being left-handed.
2. If you are in the USA, see Autlanders, Thriving Outside of the Box: Finding Support Resources in the USA...
   (Other countries have similar organizations.)
