A moment of clarity in the chaos, I guess, now that I've sobered up a bit. It's as if you are foreseeing the problems and making choices now to avoid them. That seems wise. For some people, staying away altogether is the best choice.
I'm ironically reminded of the title of an Iron Man comic that delved into Tony Stark's struggle with alcoholism - that been "Demon in a Bottle".
Ironically, that seems like an apt description of alcohol. A little bit loosens you up and makes you feel a bit happier and able to have more fun...but beyond a certain point, due to it's additive nature, and it becomes like a possession or poison; it takes you over, and before you know it you're mentally transformed into something ugly - something that can ruin/end lives if you're not careful.
The last thing I need is my own "Mr. Hyde" deciding if/when he wants to 'come out' because I didn't have the drive/willpower to put the rum and coke down and walk away instead of giving in and buying it to consume.
Well, in the words on an older Bruce Wayne (since I'm talking about superheroes right now), "Never again".
