'VIOLATED': Hull autism charity Matthew's Hub was burgled days after launching as a charity

Thieves breaking into Matthew's Hub stole thousands of pounds worth of video games when they broke in on two separate occasions during the weekend.

Staff and members were devastated by the break-in, which saw them "violated" of all 70 to 100 PlayStation 3 and Xbox games used by the members.

'UPSETTING': Damage caused during the break in to Matthew's Hub

Gill Poole, Matthew's Hub's chief officer, said: "What is really upsetting is that these games have been donated and collected and given to the Hub by the members for them to use, and then for them to have them stolen, not just once but to be violated twice, is really upsetting.

"People come here because it's a safe place and they come here to socialise. Some of them have made friends here where they might not have made friends anywhere else, and it is a bit of a lifeline for them."

Ms Poole said the burglaries happened the day after the project launched as a charity.

She said: "The first burglary was on Saturday overnight. They broke in but they didn't take anything.

"The next day we made the place secure.

"But when we came in on the Monday there had been another break in and they took all the games."

Matthew's Hub, which provides support and advice for people with high-functioning autism and Asperger's Syndrome launched as a charity last week.

The project was originally founded in 2014 as part of the Humberside FiND charity, delivering advice, education, work placement assistance, advocacy and social networking opportunities for some of the estimated 4,000 adults living with autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

Ms Poole said: "We have developed five work streams; the DWP work programme, autism awareness training, diagnosis of autism, advocacy and safe space for socialisation."

Simona Rizzardi, founder of Matthew's Hub and mother of Matthew Batty, a young man on the autistic spectrum who died in 2009, said at the launch: "This represents a brilliant new chapter for the now independent charity and a great legacy for the memory of Matthew."

really disgusts me that they could do this to a charity, but i suppose thieves dont have morals of who they steal off,its all the same stuff to them unfortunately.
hopefully the charity can set something up to get donations, maybe of peoples unwanted games or consoles even as people will be upgrading to xbox ones/PS4s at this time of the year so may be willing to seperate themselves from their collection.
i have a couple of xbox360 games i dont want,i wonder is that to old for what they need?

Such stories remind me of even how thieves have stolen from local food banks who serve the homeless.

Yes, sadly people can and do steal just about everything they can.

one of my support staff used to be a heroin, alcohol and speed addict and she stole off everyone including her mum,and when she took her daughter and son [who was born with faetal alcohol spectrum disorder because of her drinking and also has undiagnosed aspergers] out shopping she would ask them what they want and then steal the items. shes been in more police stations than youve had hot dinners and shes been institutionalised and diagnosed with many labels but shes now a very clean woman, she has set up charities to help wean drug users off drugs and shes won a woman of the year award amongst many other things, and she has a lot of sympathy and regret for what she has done, that will never leave her.

i think drug users have no concience until they reach rock bottom and recover, although theres no evidence it sounds like the people whove robbed the social hub could have been drug addicts and in that way i also have a tiny shred of sympathy for them because it means theyre that addicted to drugs they have to rob off vulnerable people,i cant imagine what its like to be that desperate.

Low lives. To steal from a charity. There are few lows than that.

I am tempted too to see if they'd like my ps3 and games, I really don't use it any more and it's taking up space. I could easily get a blu-ray drive for my computer.

Not surprising... honestly they should have anticipated this.
In UK since the Brexit vote, their has been a steep and rapid rise in crimes against non white people, LGBT community, women and people with disabilities and those who help them. The British are also attacking non Protestants.

There has been bills introduced into Parliament to deal with this growing threat.

The same thing is happening in the United States with the election of Trump.
These crimes are rising here much faster.

I hate to say this, but we all be expecting this to happen to ourselves.
This is going to get far far worse in the U.S. and U.K.
We are just in the beginning of Massive purging of society who are sick of all minorities including the disabled.

We are regularly blamed with the rest of the minorities for "destroying" by half of society.

We need to be vigilant and on guard against the backlash of society.
