How to Use Google and Do it More Efficiently

Google no longer recognizes boolean searches when I do them, so I have given up. The "OR" keyword is something I have found it just completely ignores (or turns into words related to "or", such as "alternative" or "other"). The traditional "+" I found is hit and miss.

The only things I have found consistently work are "site: [doman name]" and "filetype: [filetype extension] ".

I wish that, instead of the "verbatim" search setting (which seems to only stop it from changing your keywords to related words or synonyms, and makes it respect quotes), they would offer a "traditional boolean search" setting.

I'm just going to post here for posterity, as some here might not recognize the purpose of this thread: it is satire that needed to be created at the beginning of this month.

Personally these days, I see the term "Google" as a verb. Not specific to any one search engine, but rather simply the act of using a search engine because the answer is usually out there if you're willing to pursue it.

Funny to discover that Google itself agrees. Though of course it plugs their search engine exclusively. :p

google as a verb - Google Search

Makes me want to write a sci-fi novel in a world where nothing is proprietary and everything in the cyber world is based on open source code development. Then again the librarians tell me that belongs in the fantasy section.

Brings a tear to my eye. Now someone hand me a Kleenex. Oops....I mean a tissue!

A good post that is useful to a lot of people, although I often use DuckDuckGo as unlike Google who track and follow you around with Ads, they totally respect your privacy, they also don't post loads of Ads in your search results and they don't remove any search results like Google does either. Google has unfortunately become far too commercialised and controlled.

Edit: You can optionally turn off blocking of adult content in the settings on DuckDuckGo too.

Sorry, hang on, I tripped and scraped my chin on my way to the Kl--er--tissue box and don't want to bleed all over your tissue so I need to get a Band-Aid first -- I mean an adhesive bandage/plaster!
