How to tell friends and familly I have aspergers?

I have been self-diagnosed for almost a year, but I have not told anyone about it and can?t find the courage to do it. I don?t believe anyone suspects that I may have Aspergers, but now I really feel I need to tell someone. I don?t know if i should look for an official diagnosis. Any advice?
