In this forum we have discussed about the Holy Spirit gifts. In this post I thought it might be useful to look at how the Holy Spirit can help people in their daily lives as a Christian. The Holy Spirit is one of the 3 attributes of God the creator.
Jesus has said in the Bible he would send his followers after the resurrection a comforter, which is the Holy Spirit.(John 14:26) The Holy Spirit can perform different functions in the body to support a Christian in their faith journey. The Holy Spirit is often given to believers at Baptism. Jesus stated that, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5)” This joins us as a member of the Body of Christ. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:18-20)"
These are the typical roles of the Holy Spirit-
Jesus said he would send his followers a comforter which is the Holy Spirit (John 14:26).The Holy Spirit has many roles, helper, protector, intercessor, advocate, strengthener, standby, comforter, counsellor, baptiser and a sanctifier.
I thought I would focus this post on how being baptised with the Holy Spirit at Baptism can support someone in their day to day life.
We are born with our spirit which also contains the Spirit of God. Being Baptised with more of the Holy Spirit at Baptism (which Jesus laid the way for) allows one to grow in the Spirit and become more fully ourselves emulating the attributes of God. This is the presence of God with us here and now and is a third attribute of God. However, the main source of the Divine Essence resides in Heaven.
The Holy Spirit is the breath, wind, spirit of God.
“In Greek, the Holy Spirit is referred to as "Pneuma Hagion" (πνεῦμα ἅγιον), which translates to "Holy Spirit" or "Sacred Breath".
Here's a more detailed explanation:
πνεῦμα (pneuma): This Greek word means "breath," "wind," or "spirit".
ἅγιον (hagion): This Greek word means "holy," "holiness," or "holy one".
Paraclete: In the Gospel of John, Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as the Advocate (or Paraclete) that the Father will send after he is gone. The word in the original Greek text is parakletos: para = "beside" kalein = "to call"
I have felt this breath and wind myself when in the church. It literally came by me and I remarked this is the breath and wind of the Holy Paraclete.
This breath/spirit I think this wind can help someone when being overwhelmed because it has certainly had this effect on me in my life as an autistic Christian. Perhaps it works for all Christians when in distress, but I can only write about my life.
Some people may struggle with expressing themselves in prayer. You can pray a simple Our Father as instructed by Jesus in Matthew 6, the Holy Spirit will intercede on your part and translate your inner thoughts to the creator in Heaven so you can pray and know your inner thoughts are being heard.
I live alone and the Paraelete has a presence in my life and it has made me less alone in this world and strengthened itself my faith and caused me to hold on in difficult times.
Also, in my experience I feel it may have warned me of the presence of danger around me as well.
This may strike a chord with some of us. I went to church to today and one of the sermons really soothed me from Acts, that our prayers can help to get our loves ones through who do not hold the same degree of faith. So keep on for them in prayer, especially if you are head of the household and have a faith, your prayers count. I like that my father can cover me with his prayers and my mother as well. (Acts 16: 32-34) Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, and your household. They spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in the house. At the same of the night he took them and washed their wounds; then he and his entire family were baptised without delay.
As a Christian who has said previously on this forum stated that they love the Day of Pentecost in the Book of Acts 2:1-4 when the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples and they spoke in multiple languages. that is coming up soon in the calendar. Last year we wore red items to appreciate a symbol to the Holy Spirit at Church.
I have to say on this is that in 2014 I had the most beautiful experience of being in front of the Divine Essence in spirit/vision. It was so beautiful and just made my body feel so soothed and me to feel at ease. I will post you a link to that from back then. It was so beautiful and I have released it for public recently as it was private-but I decided to release it recently.
