You may call me okisland, obviously (call me what you will actually). I was diagnosed with Asperger's officially a couple of years ago, and I've really just sort of given up trying to naturally get on with people, and so I frequently and almost-automatically turn to drugs and stay at home. But I really can't do this forever (well, maybe I could but I can't imagine it'd always be as comfortable and easy as it is in my current situation). To be Frank, drugs have always been a friend of mine, even though I'm all too aware of their short-term "bliss" and the ever-worsening long-term troubles that come with playing...

I'm fine in my own company at places I feel safe at/can trust but due to some obsessions and what I finally got told IS definitely 'Body dysmorphic disorder' (by my psychiatrist), along with anxiety and many specific issues, the company of others can be a huge struggle, and I've barely left my house for months now.

I suppose I'm here to read the minds and views of others, hopefully widen my understanding and acceptance of all kinds of people, and maybe make some friends. I've also been told by my psychiatrist to get back in touch with the Asperger's team where I am to talk about some obsessions and issues that are holding me back from, well, just being able to enjoy some normal healthy things that I've fallen in to the habit of avoiding. Even things as basic as going for a walk. Yup.

Welcome Okisland.
I've been through much of what you are going through.
It isn't an easy road, but, there are better and worse times.
We have to play the hand we're dealt. It IS a challenge.
