Historical/Mythological events you'd like to see Movies/TV shows based on?

When it comes from stuff from history and mythology, a good many events (or certain people within them) have received adaptations of varying quality and historical accuracy. However, history and mythology has a lot of interesting stories and people which/who sadly aren't well known and could be fertile ground for an interesting TV series or movie.
So, if you could create a movie or TV series about a historical/mythological story or person/people that you think would do well, what/who would you make it about.

I'll give an example to start us off.

Pwyll, Prince of Dyved - A mythological example from Wales which tells the story of Pwyll (the "ll" is pronounced with a "sh" sound) and his misadventures - including helping the God of Death with a problem he has (which does earn him some big rewards down the line), trying to get his wife-to-be back from her arranged husband whom she hates and the earliest "adventure" of his child.
All-in-all, its a fun trio of stories and one that I'd like to see be made into a film. Here's some more information about it here (and just for fun, what was your reaction to the video between 2:08 and 2:22?):

So, are there any historical/mythological stories that you'd like to see TV and/or Movie adaptations of?

I would like to see more Norse history and mythology. There is so much good stuff there, good stories. Those Marvel people have made several movies where they are using some of it, but they turned it into a Hollywood circus show. But they did get one thing right, there is a lot of humor in it. That's part of why I like it so much, it has a lot of humor in it. And often dark humor.

One interesting thing about those movies is that there is a religion called Åsatru, people who belong to that faith look at Odin and Thor and everything from that realm the same way other people look at Jesus and that stuff. So those Marvel movies are just flat out blasphemic if you belong to the Åsatru faith. Imagine if they made a movie about Jesus fighting the Hulk. :) People would protest wildly but Marvel and Hollywood did that to the Åsatru people.

I reckon you could make a great comedy out of this:

Funnily enough, it says this on that Wiki page:

"In 2019, a musical adaptation of the story was workshopped in Melbourne by playwright Simeon Yialeloglou and composer James Court. An action-comedy movie retelling of the events, written by John Cleese, Monty Franklin, and Rob Schneider, was originally slated for release in 2022, now scheduled to begin production in 2023."

I always thought one of Rosemary Sutcliff's last novels (1990) was fantastic and would make a great film. Technically a YA book, I can read over and over again enthralled. It is a historical fiction based on what was likely a true event .

I should add the story is told from the perspective of the shield bearers, slave and free, one each (and one each dog) that accompanied each warrior.

I'd like a science-fiction/ fantasy series based on hindu legends.
Yeah, I'd be fine with that.
The most I've seen regarding Hindu Mythology (or at least that I can remember) was in Samurai Jack, when Rama appears alongside Odin and Ra to destroy the Primordial Darkness - although a piece of it escapes and lands on Earth; eventually becoming Aku.
Rama later shows up to help forge the magical sword that the Emperor wields to take on Aku and seal him away - with his son ("Jack") later using it when Aku returns.

Since you like the Norse history/mythology, here's a couple of songs that you might like by Miracle of Sound:

Valhalla Calling

Skål!

The Yugoslav war(s).

There are so many moments that seem straight out of a written drama that actually happened and were even caught on camera.

The whole drama at the last congress of Yugoslavia with each delegation scheming and maneuvering for their own interests.

When the Bosnian president lands expecting a UN escorts but the Serbs just capture him and then when he's getting exchanged for a general and his staff that had been surrounded and during the exchange several Bosnian units rebel and start shooting at the Serbs while the president on the radio tries to get him on the line.

When Milosevic is pushing hard on the Bosnian Serbs to accept a peace deal but one of the generals betrays him and reveals a map showing all the territory they would be giving up making everyone else to turn on Milosevic and the peace deal.

I can picture it all on a Chernobyl style historical drama.

I still remember watching all of that on TV when it happened. I agree that it's definitely a story worth telling. Also don't forget the sniper in the high rise building and the doomed lovers on the bridge, and how a couple of men stripped the cannon out of a downed war plane and used that to take out the sniper.

There was a lot of incredible drama in that story.

A TV series based on the Greek War with Troy and later the efforts of Odysseus to get home is something that I think could work. It'd definitely be an "epic", but I think it could work if you handled it well, especially after listening to a partial musical version of The Odyssey which is getting made at the minute:

The Troy Saga/Cyclops Saga:

@AGXStarseed they've done movies on it.

It's a shame there are so many other fantastic Greek stories they never tell. I would love to watch a movie about Pandora

If they did a TV series that was all different stories of Greek mythology that would be fantastic (it's a special interest of mine). The tale of Persephone, the Paleides.

Well I wouldn't mind another. Besides, with a TV series, you'd be able to flesh out a lot more than you could with a two hour movie.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more Greek Myths (or indeed Myths from other countries which are otherwise ignored) adapted to the screen, as I mentioned at the top with the story of Pwyll - Prince of Dyved.

I would like to see more about Rasputin, he was such a strange character, but it would be more of a series of stories. Was he mad, was he gifted?
