Hi, I'm Vicky. I'm a sixty year old Autistic woman with Autisic kids [some of them] and grand kids. [ and possibly a great-grand kid on the way.] My youngest son [ 20 years old] has some devastating neurological pain [might or might not be connected to him being autistic] My other kids are in varying stages of doing alright to pretty good. My son will most often always have this pain that is so horrendous that when it is at it's worst, he passes out hundreds of times a day from the pain. [neurologist says it's like tazer pain times a hundred]

So, we thought that we had plenty of time to help him to build a life that he could be happy in [ I have spent almost every day trying to find reasons for him to continue living] We spent all of our resources, over half a million dollars, trying to find that "magic something" that would alleviate his suffering. [ we now live in a tiny travel trailer in the mountains] MMJ has helped ALOT, and he was the second minor in Colorado to receive the MMJ card years ago,

We thought we had years to help him to gain the happy life we promised him. A couple of things happened though. An aggressive breast cancer for me, congestive heart failure for my husband, soooo that makes everything alot more urgent.

Though now broke, we are determined to help my son and ALL Autistics. I will write more about it on the community blog later today. These are all things that we are doing, not debating whether to do or not. I already made a blog on it about "Refridgerator Mothers" in the old days. This will be a different one.

Does he have Trigeminal Neuralgia?

Hi Vicky,
I am sorry to hear of your troubles, bat I give you all the credit for continuing to walk forward and do all you can for others. I am happy to meet you (on line) and I look forward to talking in the future.
PS. At least you are in the mountains and not some crowded city parking lot.

Welcome

I'm sorry to hear of your families current struggles. I have heard the term 'Refrigerator Mother' before, and have had an interest in it before; though much of my interest was related more so towards the affects from mothers with narcissistic personality disorder.

Thank you all for your warm welcomes. I have started blogging on the community blog if you are interested in learning about the "Autistic community ithin an already existing community" we are planning in Colorado, or about our Autistic retreat,AutHaven, also in Colorado, plus other topics.

Vicky, would it be possible to put the discussion of AutHaven and Pueblo in a thread? It might make it slightly easier to keep track of the comments going back and forth on one thread.
