Hi everyone.

I was diagnosed with HFA/asperger syndrome 12 months ago by the NHS in the UK. I soon joined this group after the diagnostic but have not had the courage to post until now.

My main struggles in life are socialising, mood swings, and anxiety.

I struggle with pronouncing and stutter certain words, which some people laugh at. Mainly words that start with th or re. I attended a speech therapy school when I was a young boy.

My mood swings can change for no reason and I find it hard to understand why I change so sudden.

Socialising is tough, I moved away from my place of birth, left everyone I knew behind and now have no friends. I have cutt all ties with my family and have no communication. I used to work as part of a team but since been diagnosed I have changed jobs and now I'm a lone worker. Always found groups of people a challenge to socialise with and found 1to1 much better. Nightclubs used to make me really emotional and I would often breakdown when used to attend them with friends from college.

Since been diagnosed it has helped me make sense of my life and make me aware of my weaknesses in day to day life. Overall I find been diagnosed has given me an identity and has been mostly positive for me.

Welcome aboard! :)
I'm glad you posted and hope you feel comfortable here. I also have similar struggles. Best wishes.
