Dave here,
I heard a program about Autism on NPR a while back, and the presenter was saying she had autism. I didn't really know anything about autism, so I looked into it a little and must have recognized a few traits I have.
Later I asked a co-worker if she knew anything about autism. She said she has a daughter who has autism / asperger's, and kind of explained it to me.
So what's Asperger's? I hadn't heard of that, so I looked it up a few days later, and I'm thinking holy crap!, this sounds a lot like me! Somebody could have said something when I was a kid!
Anyway, after reading a lot on the internet, and taking some online tests, I've come to the conclusion that I don't know if I have Asperger's, but my traits seem to be about 55 percent leaning towards it, and about 45 percent towards NT.
Looking back on my life with the perspective that I might have Asperger's, I can totally see how it has affected every aspect from childhood and relationships to career choices, to my current lack of social skills.
I look forward to learning more.

Hi & Welcome,
It's a spectrum in severity as well as type, so you may be HFA. I come out in the border region too, but am more firmly in the Autistic side deep down. Much of my NT side is learned.

Welcome Destination Unknown,

Recently discovered that I am most definitely on the spectrum and the one thing that clinched it was the anxiety over really inconsequential things. Going to a Doctor, dentist, even a vet with my cat made me quite unreasonably anxious, nervous and unable to sleep the night before. So that clued me in, just as you are discovering aspects of your life that seem relevant to who you are.

It's a journey many have taken. Good luck with it.

Hi, welcome to the forum :) It really is quite a revelation, but also a relief to know that the reason for many of your problems could be due to autism.

You have found a great forum. Hope you enjoy your time here. Welcome and good luck!:)
