Hi, my name is Sonia, I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with Asperger?s Syndrome just over 18 months ago, when I had just turned 26. I wasn't given an awful lot of support in dealing my diagnosis from the professionals, and my family isn't the most supportive either. I have had a lot of help and support from a charity called Action for Asperger?s, run by an amazing lady called Elaine Nicholson. She has really helped me with starting to come to terms with my diagnosis. I am now a client representative for her charity and run the Facebook page for it.

I don?t have a huge circle of friends, but in many ways I don?t mind that, because I don?t think I would ever cope if I had a large group of friends. If I have 1 or 2 then I?m happy. However, I do get lonely and crave social interaction via the web. I guess there is much less pressure when you interact over the web, so I feel quite comfortable sat in my room, chatting to people online. I really hope I can get to know some people on here and build up my online circle of friends.

Welcome to AC. Glad to have you here. I hope you hang around and get to know a few people.
