Hi. I'm Echo.

Echo

AQ 41 etc etc...
I'm a 52-year-old self-diagnosed woman in the United States and I'm still trying to come to terms with life and it's various necessities. I'm also an artist, a vocalist and a writer. Just not much of an "earner" these days.

At midlife, as my only child graduated high school, my life seemed to stall. Not that it made any less sense than it had throughout, but I suddenly had less energy to put up my various social masks and "just do it" anyway. Everything had to go. Friends, my marriage, facebook, community obligations. Nothing was sacred.

I'm happy to have found this community. Sometimes I'll wander away for a bit, as I overwhelm easily, but I'll also wander back. Please feel free to message. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you. :)

Thanks, Tom. I've been enjoying chatting with you, as well. And so far the "chatters" here seem to be a fun group of really lovely people. :)

Looks like you came to the right place. Welcome to AC. :)
It does seem like the right place, Judge! Thank you. :) I see you have your various scores on the autism tests listed under your posts....as do many others here....
I've taken ALL the tests, (with the same result....) which one, in your opinion, seems most relevant to people?

That's a really good question actually. Most relevant? My answer, purely as a non-medical professional:

All of them. And none of them. I think you have to consider them mere benchmarks. To be applied as diagnostic tools, but not something to objectively confirm or dismiss being on the spectrum of autism.

There's so much more to it. Such as a qualitative and quantitative analysis of one's traits and behaviors, and whatever comorbid conditions one may additionally have. To interact with your fellow Aspies and see how you measure up to them- or not. And to recognize that we cannot be assessed in any "cookie-cutter" fashion.

It's complicated. We're complicated. But with time, patience and lots of interaction I think most people can figure out such a question as to who- and what they are. ;)
