Hi there, I'm new here. ^-^
Decided to leave Reddit, and figured I'd switch to using forums again lol, this place seems nice.

My name's Nai, I'm 22 and I'm not technically diagnosed yet! Although it was heavily implied by 2 psychiatrists when I was 16. All of my friends + my partner are all autistic (diagnosed), and they're in agreeance that I'm on the spectrum though so hopefully that counts :p

My special interest is languages (specifically Hebrew, but I dabble in learning various languages! rn i'm also learning Ukrainian) and I'm also more generally interested in math, Linux, and Judaism.

I'm unsure how active I'll be atm, but I'd love to get to know you all

Hello Nai, it’s nice to meet you! I hope you have a great time here. There are a lot of amazing and nice people here. I hope you can meet some of them and make new friends. Seeking a diagnosis is helpful to get information and learn more about yourself. I hope you can a diagnosis in the future!

Hi, welcome! :)

It’s nice to have you here! You will find lots of supportive and friendly people here (nothing like reddit) and there are a lot of fun off-topic threads where you can discuss your interests.

I can’t read Ukrainian very well at all but I understand some if spoken. Do you speak Polish?

Welcome Nai. You will find it interesting here. From my experience I think you are at a decent age to understand your Autism. As a young adult I did not know I was autistic, yet that impacted me terribly with social dysfunction. As I matured I was able to accommodate and grow by focusing on social goals. It was only at 60 that I was diagnosed.

Thank you for the welcome everyone ^-^

@Luca I don't speak Polish yet, but I was trying to learn it some years ago. I only remember a bit, but it's remarkably similar to Ukrainian! (iirc it has about 80% lexical similarity with each other!)

@Aspychata Yiddish is great. Thanks a lot for the song, thought it sounded familiar. I've been listening to the Dudu Fisher version for a while now :grinning:

@Gerald Wilgus Learning that I'm autistic has helped me so much. I feel it's made learning about myself, and how to cope and exist in the world a lot easier, even if I still struggle.

I think we all struggle at times. Over the past two years I've been extinguishing my PTSD with Cognitive Processing Therapy. When I felt isolated as a teen and young adult I internalized lies I told myself to understand what I was feeling and these narratives damaged me.

Now I am not triggered and am happier than I've been in a while.
