I am in the UK and received an official diagnosis of Asperger's in January. I am in my late thirties and until the past few months was unaware that this was at the root of my struggles. It has been a complete revelation and I am still coming to terms with it. I have been having a read of the forums and they have been very helpful. It is a relief to find people with whom I can identify. I have been feeling nervous about posting but have found the courage to say hello this evening.
 
Hi and welcome to AC. As you've been here a while there's no need for me to tell you what a great and friendly place this is.

Takes a while to get used to being diagnosed, for me it was bittersweet, but going forwards it is such a relief.

Don't worry. Many of our members can feel a little hesitant about posting, at first. It's comforting to know that many of us are able to relate to one another quite well, and all share similar concerns. Hopefully, in time, you'll feel right at home here.

Hello and welcome

I like to call myself officially, unofficially diagnosed lol because there are some I know who are not professionals, but recognise that I have aspergers and so, I go with them! One has a son who is an aspie and the other, worked with an aspie.

I first came across the word aspergers about 5 or 6 year's ago now and from there, it has been growing and since joining aspiecentral, I feel at last, that I begin to know myself at 45.

I find nts just incredibly hard to be around and so, coming on here, is a relief to me!
 
I am 40 and was just diagnosed about 3 months ago. Very relieving that I finally found a diagnosis that fit.
