Hi,

I'm Andrew 23 years of age and live in the UK.

I don't currently have a formal diagnoses, but seeing my Psychiatrist on the 31st for the test. I did a test last year for Aspergers and i didn't meet the full criteria for a diagnoses but it did show that i had quit a few traits of somebody with Aspergers. After my Psychiatrist meeting with my parents and getting a background history and from observing me in consultations he is quit positive that i do have the full Aspergers diagnoses. He thinks i rated myself too highly in the previous test.

As a child i was different from other children and my peers. I now suffer bad social Anxiety and panic attacks in public. I struggle overall with social interaction and find changes in my daily life quit stressful. I was meant to be seeing my psychiatrist 2 weeks ago and turned up for my appointment only to discover he was on paternity leave. I was so distressed by that having built myself up to see him and my anxiety just went through the roof and ended up drinking that day. When anxious i can be quit short with people and defensive. I can engage in tasks that would seem mundane to NT people for hours and hours. Does this at all sound like Aspergers (high functioning)? :)

thanks for reading.

Hi Andrew! Welcome to Aspies Central.

From your description, it does seem to point to high-functioning Asperger syndrome, but I don't want to say that I'm 100% sure because I'm not a psychiatrist. I'm a recent college grad who happens to be 23 as well but from the United States. I would definitely recommend that you visit with the psychiatrist again because he might be able to point you in the right direction and give you the greatest understanding that you might need.

In the meantime, I would highly recommend looking around the forum and clicking on some links to find out more information. Equally helpful would be to post any questions, concerns, or insights you might have anywhere on the forum. We're extremely friendly and always willing to help our members in any way.
