Heya, I'm Emrys. I'm a 21 year old living in South Carolina. I'm studying information science in university and I hope to make video games featuring characters with disabilities in the future.
I'm not officially diagnosed with ASD, but I hope to get a diagnosis soon. Currently, I'm diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and social anxiety.

Hi and welcome. Hey that's a great ambition you have, to represent characters with disabilities in the video games you design. I'm reading Game of Thrones aka Song of Fire and Ice series, and I am impressed with how George RR Martin has characters such as the person with dwarfism, the way he shows how that disability affects the characters life and history, but also the individuals varied aspects of personality and intellect and so on. Hope that'll be an ambition you get a chance to fulfill!

Hi Emrys, nice to meet you and welcome!
I love what you’re doing with your idea of creating characters with disabilities :) We are very underrepresented in most media, and a lot of times when we are represented, it’s not accurate. So you’re doing a really awesome thing!!
Love your avatar btw… do you draw? I’m an artist and I drew my avatar, which is based on a portrait of me and my dog :)

Welcome. Last Friday I was discussing COVID with a prof who was using these past two years as a study in Public Health Informatics in his class at the University of Michigan. It is so important to use knowledge of systems to turn raw data into accurate information.

I hope you overcome your social anxiety and recognize that people, even as they desire connection, also struggle with social interaction. When I could recognize people who were accepting of me, my social anxiety began to improve, though it was many years out of university before I finally put it to rest.

The tunnel may be dark, but there is light at the end of it. Exiting it is easier said than done but each step is one fewer that you need to make.

Hello Emrys-- Good luck with the university and the gaming design stuff. I was born & raised in South Carolina and am currently studying in Connecticut. Nice to hear from more Southerners!

I don't know 100% for sure your situation, but figuring out the autism stuff can go a long ways towards helping with Major Depressive Disorder & social anxiety. (Says the guy who gives up on living, every few months. At least now I know why I'm doing it LOL.) Good that you're trying to fix it now so you don't have to deal with it later!
