Has 'AutismForums' ever been in the news?

Might news-stories encourage new 'AutismForum' members?

Seems to me like it might be a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, you do increase the awareness and attention of the greater autistic community. On the other hand, you also increase the awareness and attention of the potentially toxic, sociopathic, psychopathic, and narcissistic community that may find it rather rewarding and stimulating to troll the forum and cause havoc for us and the administrators.

l actually had a new forum member tell me he was going to sabotage the website, he was a computer software guy. I immediately forwarded his post to the tech person at the site, who is no longer here.. This was several years ago.

The quality news sources, such as PBS Public Broadcasting Service in the U.S periodically do stories concerning the the Autism Spectrum.

The are quality TV and Internet news-sources that have done thoughtful news-stories involving the Autism Spectrum.

News-stories involving neurodiversity, and people handling High Functioning Autism (HFA) (HFA NT-like) are overlooked, and hence need news-coverage.

The Autism Spectrum is hereditary in familes - that is both classic Autism, and HFA happens within the same families.

If any Autistic forum made the 24 hour news cycle, it would probably be for a sensational reason.

The thoughful awareness of the Autism Spectrum via quality news sources e.g., PBS has proven beneficial.
It isn't awareness of the spectrum that people are worried about.

They are worried that this specific website, suddenly becoming famous, would make an attractive target to haters.

- anybody who becomes publicly visible on the internet (in any form, even personal places) can become the victim of those groups who love to hate.

This is a very fair concern.

I was genuinely surprised when i created an account here to find that there are no trolls here. I myself know about people who would love to come here and just wreak havoc, and make videos about " 'funny' people making dumb posts and complaining on having no social life" or stuff like that. I am so glad that this forum exists in the way it is now, moderators definitely do such a good work, but still we are all very lucky here that foe example no big youtuber chose to make fun of this website.

I do believe that it would take something / someone alarmingly stupid to make this forum a target. We're the smarter folks statistically (and truly), so we should be just fine.

Let such trolls of the worst kind come here, though. I have a way of humiliating those types with every fact possible. That, and I have an endless amount of "yo mama" insults. I'll win.

It's not just about them writing things, it's about like hundreds of people just creating new threads and mods and others being overwhelmed with work and amount of crap they can post all at once everywhere.
