Had a good casual job interview.

It’s been a hot minute but I had a job interview earlier Thursday with a hotel as a front desk agent/associate. This hotel I can saw looked really expensive to stay in and pretty large on the inside that I’m like I don’t think I belong in here but here I am with my black suit, blue long sleeve shirt and tab khaki pants with dress shoes. I met the hiring manager and we sat down and chatted for a bit about the position and my interest in the role.

I was utterly surprised I was not asked any sort of behavioral nor technical questions but rather is was more of “why are you interested in this position?” “What do you know about the resort?” That’s mainly it and it got to a point we went off script and chatted about interests, hobbies and our day to day life. I did notice I was nervous at the beginning feeling like I was brief in my answers mainly in the realm of “tell me about yourself” and I asked a awkward question at random about art when that’s not even related to the position, I even confused the hiring manager with an expression that was created.

When I was asking questions at the end I had my notes but my brain wanted to just stare at my notebook zoning out for 5-10 seconds. Anyway I don’t recall having an interview like that in quite a while where almost the entire thing goes of script. I was told at the end that my information will be sent to the higher ups and was told “ we will be in touch” I don’t read to much into that as that’s a neutral saying.

If I don’t end up getting this one at least I can say I accomplished something and that was trying my best. I have 3 more interviews to go on Friday to finish off the week.

Hopefully I’ll finally get something after being unemployed for so long!

Alright, sounds like you presented yourself in a confident manner. The more interviews you do it then it becomes easier. The more confident you come across can be helpful. If you make a mistake, and you can laugh about it, it shows a personal side and how you handle yourself. If l don't understand a question, l may ask for a little more info, then it buys me time to think of a stronger answer. l veiw interviews as a selling job, and l am the product, l need to market my talents as the person they are looking for to hire. Sometimes l make the sale, sometimes l don't.
Good luck on your upcoming interviews.

Sounds like the interviewer was trying to check out how you handle casual conversations, as this is part of the position.
