Guns! :)

I have three .22s for small game hunting from when I lived in my hometown. Moved up to a bigger city and my neighborhood is a little bit... hmmm... different then my usual environment. So I'm thinking about buying a self-defense gun for my apartment. I cant decide which one, I'm thinking a Makarov though. Maybe a Remington with a few cases of bird-shot? Anybody else have any suggestions? Money isn't too much of a factor and Nebraska gun laws are somewhat lax.

I received my first firearm this past Christmas: Hi-Point 45 ACP.

Concealed Carry and the Castle Doctrine was just passed and signed into law in my state, so I guess I can say I am prepared!

Ah! So lucky! Iv only fired an ACP a few times. Such a sexy gun but I cant find any around my area.

I don't own any guns... cause it's not legal here, however, I've been to a range a few times and I liked that.

If it were legal here, I wouldn't have a clue what gun I'd own. I'm not that much into it in terms of brands and such.

A funny sidenote; I once read a discussion on Facebook. Some guy from the US was in the Uk and got into a lot of verbal arguments and the target of insults. He said that in the US that doesn't happen that much (compared to what he witnessed in the UK) mainly because in the US people might be packin and you might end up getting shot instead of just being punched in the face. Yes, it sounds slightly exagerated I think, but somehow I think there's a bit of truth to that.

Eh. Hes probably from a bigger city. In my rural area I've never been threatened with a gun. The general idea in my area is if you cant win a fight bare-handed, then you dont know how to fight... which I completely agree with. Guns for self-defense are completely different. But if someones hitting on your girlfriend and you pull out a firearm then you need some boxing lessons xD

Never been in a violent situation involving guns. Iv been in two knife fights. And I've both given and recieved plenty of bare-fisted butt-kickings haha nothing to serious, just us boys figuring out whos in charge.

But for some reason I have a weird fascination with knife fights...... :/

Does Seattle qualify as big?

But yeah, I agree with fighting. Weirdly enough, a lot of people in Holland, especially the younger ones (and a decent share of immigrants to boot) are usually the types of people that end up in knife fights (or worse). Apparently there's not "fight with pride" thing going on there and it's quite common for people to threaten to kill you over the silliest things sometimes. That usually ends up in a big fight... especially in the areas with lots of clubs and bars.. but that's not really different from other places I think.

I'm glad my girlfriend can stand up for herself (not that I couldn't for her)... but she can probably punch out an average guy without that much of a problem, lol. That makes my life easier :P

I never been in gunfights, so to say... but I know people who have, including bouncers at clubs where they'd do drive-by's and such, lol. So much for gun laws and peace and quiet in Holland. Knife fights is a different deal... but is it a knife fight if someone threatens you and you do not have a knife on you? XD

are there any other People here that have an interest in Guns? If you do tell me about me them. :p:rolleyes:

Guns were an obsession of mine, so I know a lot about them and have a pretty decent collection. I also teach basic firearms familiarization to newbs and have for several years.

What I would suggest to the thread author is a shotgun with heavy birdshot for the apartment. Plenty of stopping power, and it shouldn't go through the walls.
