The caption really makes the error all the more wonderful. The photo has been fixed, though a correction was not placed on the story. Instead, a Guardian employee posted a corrective comment:

When I was a teen and was in chat rooms. Some buddies and I joked around saying that the Canadian flag looked like a "weed" plant.

Now I know better. I didn't mean to offend any Canadians by saying that.

First of all, why is this thread being marked by Google as a potential threat to my computer? I'm using Chrome BTW, something about malware though I don't think I'm in any danger.

Second, that may be more appropriate in the States where pretty much every stoner is vying to get weed legalized....here, something like this:
