Gmail issue (desktop computer)

Every so often recently the gmail on my desktop starts "spinning" telling me it's "not connected", every other website loads fine...

Doing a web search, I keep finding a reference to an SMS issue (did I get that right?), but almost every tutorial refers to how to fix it for a smart phone, do people not access it via their home computers anymore? o_O Or as I've often said maybe I'm just too old fashioned

Help! Any input from anyone? In plain English, rather than acronyms

Update: Re-starting my browser (Firefox) seems to have solved it for now, but it's getting to be rather tiring...

Seems to be an issue with a couple of browsers. (Safari/Firefox) You might try emptying the cache and cookies in Firefox. Still, it may well be something else...but give this a go.

Settings-->Privacy & Security-->Cookies and Site Data

Click the button marked "Clear Data".

Exit Firefox, reboot the computer and see if you can access Gmail again using Firefox. If that does solve the problem, go back into the Privacy & Security settings and check the box "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed".

Thanks!

When I just did a re-start of the browser itself, gmail started up again okay (actually worked), thanks for the tip, may try it in the future
