Hi. This is my first ever post to an autism site. I'm not normally one for social media. I find it so facile, if that's the right word. I guess I would like to communicate with those struggling like myself to fit into this world. Self diagnosis was a revelation, though it took about 50 years for the penny to drop. But thanks to that, I'm a lot more comfortable in my skin. It makes sense now - though why I have embarked on this autistic adventure I'm not at all sure... Hope to chat with a few aspies.
Sincerely, Brad

Welcome... Now I'm going to go all Aspie...

"Give this a try"???
Dude I was looking for your advice... and it finally hit me that you were "giving this a try."
Its one of those literal mornings where my own logic isn't even making sense... : )

Welcome, @Brad Wilson! I agree that *most* social media is facile, because most NTs act thst way most of the time. We Aspies don't "do facile." Hopefully, you will find this forum to be a breath of fresh air in that respect.

I was right there with you, @Chance. When I clicked on this thread, I was expecting to learn a solid "how-to" tip. Fortunately, I got to welcome a new member to the forum instead.

Thanks for the welcomings. Funny how it only takes a few kind people to say hello and it gives you the inspiration to continue. Funny also that I should feel “normal” talking to a group like this - safe and understood. Acceptance is the one area where I have struggled, always feeling the odd one out. Hope to find some more acceptance here with the “neurotribe” (that’s a funny name!). Will put up an icon as soon as I can figure it out.

Hmmm...I know I am, anyway. In fact maybe all Aspies are accepting, helpful and kind. I’ve never thought about it much before. Sounds naive but I think it might be generally true.
