Gifts of the Holy Spirit Gift of Sight modern day invention etc

This topic people don't discuss much about the actual topic. I mysef don't want to speak about my situation personally in here unless asked and if you want to read about my situation you can find the link in my about section on my proflie. This is not about that. This is short. We are all just trying to get by and any Holy Spirit gifts is not our doing and cannot be attritubuted to us and if some people were doing it may get pear shaped and I would run away from that. Obviously people who work in the church can call themselves names, me i'm just Rachel with conditions who is walking with her faith in a very up and down path. Mercy can extend to the unwell as well.

I took this post to say this as I stumbled on it as I was writing but want to move away from my post, and this it is not about the topic as such. It is short. On writing mine I thought gift of sight seemed to be nothing but a modern day invention as I found no Biblical basis for it. It is called the gift of vision or prophecy. I shy away a bit from modern day inventions or is it so or not. I am not sure about this one more though and I am keen to learn, 2e gift. Is this the gifts of the Holy Spirit or not. I haven't read about it to be honest. Supernatural is a snatch as well to grab attention and when I writing my story I had to to avoid using it not to disturb Christians who these modern day things may sit not well with. I like stuff like this, but even me jumped when I saw it on someones website whether I was safe reading it as a Christian. Then I realised it was to snatch viewers draw them in.

It was very interesting to read that Justin Webly head of Anglican church in England speaks in tongues in his prayer, incredible and such progress in the church. If you want to read on the Holy Spirit gifts you read the Book of Corintihans 1:12.
Feel free to discuss the Holy Spirit gifts if you want, you can take over the post lol.

All of the gifts and fruits of the Spirit are beautiful. Yes jsilver256 that is what I meant.
I will say on the gifts of the Holy Spirit that many people get it now by laying on of hands at church or some through baptism I think. Any church leader would know.
Jesus said as well that he would send his believers an advocate a comforter which is the Holy Spirit indwelling itself John 14:16 which is different from the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I think most people though just cannot see theirs.
This is the more spiritual side of Christianity which may appeal to some Autsitics as some can see things for themselves etc.

I have read now that 2E is not a diagnosis formally yet. It seems more discussed on the internet.

I know my Dad recieved the Holy Spirit through none of the above ways. He went for a walk up the country road near where we lived which was on top of a hill and a whirlwind came and encircled him and he started speaking in tongues at such a speed he didn't think it was possible, and all he could say was "Yspryd Glân" (Holy Spirit. Literal translation = "Clean Spirit").
When he came back he was clearly a changed man!

Wow amazing, there are more ways. Those two ways I know people are using today though. I didn't recieve my gifts that way either.
Thank you for posting Captian Caveman.

This is related but not directly.
I heard this on some Sky Religion channel just last week. I heard that Christians should be involved building a new church. I think that autistics those who are Christians should have a voice and place and those with disabilities as well. Things need a turning up a bit, ruffles. In anyway you can that you feel is right. I definitely agreed with the sentiment and I only heard it last week. Sky religion channel is a recent addition in my life as I prefer religion shows discussion. I have seen some helpful programs though. Not the one though that said the High Priest was risking it death or life to God as Divine Presence. Well.

Thank you for the lovely message Rachie.

If you are asking if the Holy Spirit revealed me with the gifts - the short answer is yes. But it's complicated to explain.

Your relationship with God seems very intimate. I do not have that relationship with God, and to some extent, I don't have that relationship with anybody else. I am very alexithymic. While technically that does not mean emotionless - I have emotions. But I have severe impairment in the ability to understand and respond to emotions, and ability to bond. It feels like there is a wall between myself and the entire human connection.

This also impairs my relationship with God as well. I can't get into worship songs. I can't get into prayers. Seeing you pour your heart out in the Religion forum, is an awe-inspiring sight for me to behold. I was awed by your testimony, your kindness.

I do however spend quite a bit time studying the Bible. I'm not an "expert" - I'd need to learn Koine Greek for that - but I have read and consumed tons of material there, both archeological and historical.

Let me tell you, skeptic Bible scholars live in a vacuum and then other kinds of historical scholars live in another kind of vacuum. So they don't look at the other field and rarely get to evaluate New Testament manuscript in a secular context. Very few, like Bart Ehrman, get to the level of properly appreciating just how astounding the evidence for Jesus' resurrection is by historical standards. It's not even close. That's why Ehrman had to conclude that tons of people simply hallucinated what they saw on the Cross.

So, I have the gift of knowledge. I have had insights on the Bible granted to me divinely in a few occasions, as the video says. Explaining the specifics would derail this thread.

I also, as strange as it sounds, have the gift of evangelism. I have been posting to a separate atheist forum for 20 years. A few of them have came to Jesus. I also share my knowledge freely with my own coworkers and friends, and on social media. I get an opportunity to share the Word almost everyday.

It is pretty odd that God would grant someone who's deaf, who's nonverbal, who's got a social anxiety score off the scale, etc. the gift of evangelism. But as Jesus told Paul - my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Thank you for explaining. We all have to give thanks to God, he is the one and it is all down to God our Father. As I wrote I see out of my eyes how can you doubt it. I am not asking for non believers to battle with me. This is not for it. I am alone in person. It is the only relationship I have properly had. Family is not the same. As children we all get disciplined.
I don't have the words. But I wanted to tell you as I reading and as I was doing so I was saying perfect, perfect, perfect as I scrolled down. You are perfect as you are, as God made you.
I want to tell you something I only pray usually the Our Father usually and a a few minutes. You know as Jesus said it is a good start and I was praying and asking for things I know I had better not. It wasn't what my heart was saying and only God knows it when I don't most of the time, believe you me.
Every morning and I didn't make that night one permanent without necessary changes first. I am trying and it is helping slowly. I said to my dad today. I don't feel like I am crawling. With my health I would still be in a pram.

Thank you @Rachie . I needed to hear that, especially before a worship service. It means a lot. Hope your Sunday has been good.

Regarding the topic of prayer, you may find comfort in Romans 8:26-27:

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

I'm not sure what specific gift you are referring to. I think you mentioned visions, but there is a passage in the Bible that says "Your young men will see visions, and the old men will dream dreams". I definitely think there is a relationship between disadvantage (such as autism), and sensitivity to the spiritual or charismatic. If God left a hole in your life, he didn't do it to impoverish you, but to fill it with something.

Also, you can see the story of Job for further illustration that poverty and loss is to make space for better things later.

My hands are held together like a pyramid. I didn't even knew that symbol existed. I will use it now. I say no more.

For example, having my hand broken was unpleasant, but it left its mark. Note further that a trinity has only three points.

Hrm. My left ear started ringing, and then it started raining. I wonder if that means anything. You're supposed to put people of faith together in order to assemble a greater whole. Kind of like Voltron.

jssilver256 thank you so much. Those were beautiful words. What you say for those who are Christians it applies to us all as of well of course.

I wouldn't say I was Ms social. Still trying to work out social media lol. I may have a break then return when my parents travel or something like that..

The thing is with the internet and we have our issues and we are all different but it is not like we will run into eachother and have a coffee or tea together in a coffee shop.

I don't believe in creating new things, but I described the way I held my hands to my dad. He said it was Benedictine prayer. It is was an open prayer. Beautiful.

In some ways I am very simple and find many humans complicated. To advanced for me when I am just being me.
I've learned to appreciate simplicity.

Totally unrelated but I was wondering did you change your avatar recently? Your name makes me recall a non demontional member is that you as I am non demontional as well. I get a jump to a bit at times when some people respond to me who haven't before. Of course it is totally fine, I just need a bit of creeping up behind as can be a bit jumpy lol. I have several moderate needs for autism tested by the NHS and probably raised since a change of circumstance. My sensory is level 2 can reach 3 I imagine. I am not high functioning and never have been. I try and get by with God.
I am of now waiting to be picked up for a neurology appointment.

I am a non-denominational Christian, yes. I'm not interested in faith institutions at the point where I can talk to God one-on-one, since God was the entire purpose in the first place, and then you're told that you will eventually be thrown out of the churches and not be welcome there, because they are run by men.

I've never been diagnosed with autism. I was raised in the D.C. area, and I was of a Mexican-Cuban background, and I found out that my family wound up involved in political nonsense, so that had dire consequences for the integrity of my medical treatment. When I was young, I was labeled "gifted", and then later, after they became embarrassed about wildly illegal things they had done, especially to children, they completely reversed course and claimed that I had dangerous mental conditions. At this point, I've lost all faith in psychiatry, but I am comfortable identifying as autistic because I've always had distinctive traits, starting from block-stacking as a kid, to hyper-focused interests, and terrible socialization problems. It's bizarre to me to have to accept that I have communication problems because I always thought that I was good at it, but if you're all alone in life, it's rather hard to deny.

Oh, and also I guess the lack of coordination is a distinctive tendency, too, and I have to link that closely to the socialization problems. Aside from the highly reductive, detail-oriented thought process, coming off like a spaced-out, spazz-case to people makes them judge you quite poorly. They don't like how your motions are not synchronized with your words, and then they are extra freaked out when you don't make eye contact, and you are looking around at random things because you're searching in your own brain to form sentences and advise word choices. They become suspicious and perturbed because they don't understand why you expend effort at something they don't, and they think you are dumb, or creepy.

@Levitat0r I am dressed all ready to go for my neurology and waiting for a 8am arrival. I live in London. I don't have much time to say this, but yes I do recall who are as most people as well, sometimes when some things changes it can make me unsure who has been who as well. I must say all of your posts were much needed in this thread. So thank you for that.
The only thing about me is I do like to write on very specific certain things which is non fiction for me as I cannot do that and I do not talk much at all. I am terrible my English but use editor a lot. Some covering up helps with an editor to take some out. In the help and support forum I shared basically my sensory needs which was teaked at the end due to increased limited mobility.

Still around, really concerned now if the hospital ambulance will arrive in time, appointment 10am....hoping. Managed finally to get on my phone to enquire. Don't like to speak on the phone...
Moving on
I am British born in England. I have noted issues with language as well it seemed from the report and I know from real life. I have this awful thing for me that I can write and drop words and if I read it back sometimes don't see it. No point going for any tests on that on this point for me..done with schooling.
By the end of call been told driver is outside phew.
