Gen Ed

Geordie

Geordie
Why should I do General Education, and do these subjects as compulsory ones:

1. History/Government
2. Economics
3. English (Writing, especially)
4. Literature
5. Science
6. Mathematics
7. Oh, the dreaded, the most dreaded of all - Foreign Language

I hate foreign language so much, maybe it's just the way foreign language is taught in some schools, they just teach the exam methods and they don't quite excite us. Plus, it's graded.

So knowing Gen Ed is so dreaded, I avoided them all - haha

Supposedly it's so you have a wide-range of skill and are more capable to enter the world of work. I think that's a crap personally. I would have much preferred to just study science at seconday school. I spent most of my free time reading about quarks and what-not. School just felt like a huge waste of time, learning about the same boring, trivial crap yearly.

It's a wonder why Harvard does not quite require all of such courses, but some small universities in Texas could require them all.
