Just really like banana smoothies, the potassium in a two bananas really helps. But any energy drink can help with Florida heat. Dried apricots are also very high in potassium, along with sweet potatoes.

I haven't tried it, I think we have Gatorade here but I can't remember seeing it, did a google search now and the first results were people asking "where can I buy Gatorade in Norway?". I think we have other brands that are more popular. I'm drinking a Swedish brand now called Vitamin Well, it's delicious.

Obligatory "I'm a Mountain Dew fangirl" post.

Yes, I'm addicted. I'll admit it. Look, it's got caffeine, of course that happens. I drink it for the taste though, I love it. The brand has fans for good reason.

Though I've also got that typical autism trait of having trouble trying new things. I *really* should expand my palette, when it comes to things I'll actually drink. Do you know how many different things I'll drink as of right now? Three. Just three. Milk (always 2%), Mountain Dew, and water. That's seriously it.

Sometimes I wonder just WHY it's so hard to try new things. I'm well aware that I might be missing out on something I would love, but it's just so hard to do that. Like I know so many people love Gatorade or various other brands/flavors but I always back down from trying anything like that.

I dunno, this got me thinking of that.

I couldn't help myself. lol

But I really haven't had Gatorade much. It's alright. But I think I'll stick to water namely.

Gatorade tastes nasty, so does all the knock-off brands like Powerade.

People say 'Oh you're supposed to drink it when you're exercising or working up a sweat' but like I dunno when I go out for walks and the heat index is 106 degrees and I'm sweating, drinking some nice cool water helps a lot better than any of those sports drinks ever will imo.

I have a weird thing about not liking the "taste" (or lack thereof) of water, so I drink mostly coconut water, but I do occasionally drink Gatorade, and electrolyte water (like Propel.)

I like the sugar free electrolyte drinks. So Gatorade Zero, Powerade Zero, um... Sugar free Vitamin Water. I really like Emergen-C.

My favorite electrolyte drinks are the super fancy Liquid IV- Hydration Multiplier. It comes as powder packets that you shake into a bottle of water. Now those are expensive! But even if you have just a couple sips, you can practically feel the hydration into your cells.

When Gatorade first came out as a powder, and I was on a bike tour, I wheedled some from the personal stash of a bike shop employee. I've hardly had any since. I mostly drink weak lemonade with organic juice and maple syrup, and get my salt with nuts.

I'm pretty sure that drinking a glass of fresh orange juice and eating a handful of saltine crackers provides all the electrolytes that our bodies need. It's a lot cheaper, too.

Once working as a warehouseman, my thermos of Gatorade was like a life preserver for me.

I do not like any brand of these. Coconut water once in a while. Cucumber water (with pulp) is nice. Water of course.

I've recently started making my own electrolyte drinks.

In a large thermos:

2 cups water
1/2 cup herbal tea
Pinch of salt
2 tsp sweetener of choice.

You can alternatively add 1/2 cup of apple juice in place of the tea, and omit the sweetener.

It's excellent. I make thermoses full of it at bedtime for my daughter and me.
