GAH - OUCH painful. I don't think those sounds work for everyone. The Rife Frequencies is the worst for me but, all of them make me tense and anxious, just the reverse of what they "should" do.

I do occasionally take melatonin if I need a bit of a sleep aid - like when one of the studs for my dental implants gets infected. It does calm me and help me relax enough to sleep, even when I'm in moderate pain so, it's relaxing at the least.

Yeah, I wasn't too fond of these either, with all due respect.
I do listen to binaural beats and isochronic tones, but I have to listen to specific ones that feel right to me and don't cause me discomfort. Quite rightly so, Binaurals and Isochronics don't work for everyone in the same way some people can meditate easily while others just can't keep their minds blank or stay still long enough.

Some of the best Binaurals/Isochronics I've listened to are the one minute samples on this website: http://www.unexplainablestore.com/store.php

I used melatonin when I was a kid. It worked for a while, then stopped doing anything.

As far as sound therapy, I find heavy metal is very effective.

I really like the water sounds with the tibetan bowl music thank you AnnaYoung. It creates a calm that I like very much.

As for melatonin I have taken it, I believe that you have to take it for awhile to soften the effects of noise, anxiety and stress. It made me feel as if I was half-awake but not quite there. Something I didn't like at all.

I sleep with metal music playing quietly. I am prescribed zopiclone but it's pretty impractical because it wipes me out for a full 12 hours, and the following morning I can't remember what I did the hour before bed the previous night. It can be quite confuzzling!! So, music it is, and definitely nothing repetitive, that drives me bonkers!

I do a half of a 3mg most nights. I do not have a sleeping problem but I will say this; within 20 mins of doing a half, I feel if my mind is being caressed to a state of calm.
I also think is it may be a powerful anti oxidant. I have a friend that is in a stressful job that does 5- 3 mgs. I see 10 mgs being offered at stores.
Each of us is different, so if you are groggy the next morning, do less.
I find it almost as effective as Mother Nature.
