Hi all! I am so happy there is a place like this, it puts me at peace. And I am never at peace. So thank you to all who have made this website, this forum, and this community. I will come here to be peaceful and remember it's okay to be who you are.

Oh yes, I live in Canada but moved from Russia. I think the move caused a giant Aspie explosion.

I am obsessed with language and classical music. Often say things that make zero sense and get emotional when mature intelligent people don't get it. Even though approaching 30, very immature socially. Agony to start a relationship, agony to get out, meltdowns during. So they are all short and end in tears.

Hate small talk and highly uncomfortable kissing - feel like an idiot.

Incapable of answering interview questions smoothly but hate prepping lines, so end up saying stupid things a lot :) Somehow get hired from time to time and even advance thanks to heightened sense of responsibility and damned perfectioninsm.

Have semi-permanent depression, ADHD, obsessive. Brain in overdrive most of the time.

Welcome, and yes, this is a good place to be. Small talk is useful, but not to everyone. One can typically choose the level of conversation here, as we are from all walks of life and levels of interest. Many of us struggle socially and emotionally. You are not different here, but the norm. So feel at home, and choose your topic. Looking forward to conversation.
Breathe and be OK with where you are.

I'm new here myself, but welcome anyway! I can relate to what you said about moving causing an Aspie explosion - my symptoms worsened when I moved from Wales to the United States.

Looking forward to seeing you around. :)

Thank you! With small talk, at first it was a shock (especially in Canada, when everyone does it) and I either walked away thinking "is that person trying to attack me?" or started talking about how I actually was and then they would start walking away. It took a couple of years to learn to squeeze responses out and especially initiate the "howareyou-ness". I get around now but sometimes still glitch and cringe when replying "geeewwwwwd...."

Welcome to you as well! I thought it was very strange that the move and all the subsequent culture shocks revealed so much about who I actually am. Most of the pretty shapes kind of peeled of, and I ended up with myself (oh no). A sense of humour definitely helps deal with these things.

Hello and welcome. Strangely I had the opposite reaction to moving countries, it almost levels the playing field, as both parties have to try harder to understand the other if they want to communicate, unlike the many people from my own country who just dismiss what I'm saying as if they understand it when they clearly don't. I should stop there though, I could go on and on and on... LOL

Nice to meet you :)
