For a year - another animal

Greening

Well-Known Member
Franz Kafka wrote a novella, 'The transformation', wherein a man wakes up one morning having been transformed into a beetle.

If you knew you would wake up tomorrow as another animal, than human, and live like that for a year, which animal would it be and why? One thing to consider is your options for surival. Another could be how much fun you can have, and a third could be, for instance, what you might learn about life by being this particular animal, you choose.

I am thinking an orca whale.

Intelligent. Social. Playful. Adaptive to different environments. No predators.

To have a different perspective. Sea vs. land. How organisms communicate in the sea vs. on land. To be part of a family group, instead of being by myself. To see humans as a curiosity vs. being a curiosity to humans.

Definitely sounds like an interesting year to me. Thanks for the inventive answer.

This book was a nightmare back in school D: You have returned my trauma lol

I would rather be a wild cat or eagle.

Even more pointedly, he was transformed into a vermin...described as a beetle.

I'd be a happy house cat, with one friendly owner.

An Estuarine Crocodile. Not social creatures. Laze on the beach all day and slip back in to the water at night to keep warm. They eat anything they feel like and they're protected, even if I ate a human no one would bother me for it.

Mama says the medulla oblongata must be even more irritable in crocodiles than alligators.
