I think personally that this could be good to know for the community. While I am in a happy place with my aspie-ness I don't really wish it on my children. Also because we are on the spectrum we have a higher chance of our children being on the spectrum so its worth while knowing we can lower the chance of passing it on. Doctors recommend you take folate anyway leading up to a pregnancy so its not a major change.
 
Just a guess, but it may be because our food is much less nutrient dense that it was 100 years ago because of factory farming practices, diet changes, and processing. So there would be less folate available in food.
