Hello all! I'm 65 years old and just found out. I'm self diagnosed. I read "look me in the eye" and it it was was so much me. It bums me out I didn't know sooner. I'm both glad and bewildered and sad.
I've read a lot of forum posts and see myself in each one.
I had trouble in school-"you won't amount to anything! your stupid!" etc.
I still have trouble making eye contact.
I'm not comfortable in social situations.
Love reading non-fiction and studying what I get fixated on to the max. Now it will be Aspergers!
Run my mouth on things that interest me.
Collect things. I have a lot of collections! My finest is 35 years of the Sunday color funny pages.
Did talk to my wife about it finally and she agrees with what i've found.
I hope to get a diagnosis one day if I can get over my fear of justing getting a doctors appointment.
Any info or guidance for older folks like myself would be appreciated.
 
Welcome to the forums! I'm still in my twenties and got diagnosed at six, so I can't help you there, but I hope you find yourself at home here
 
Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm 44 and didn't know I had Asperger's until recently, and I was diagnosed 3 years ago. There are quite a few older aspies on this site round about your age or even older :)
 
Hello welcome to the forms! I'm in my mid 40s and didn't find out till recently that I had Aspergers. I have yet to receive an official diagnosis but hope to soon. I had the exact same feeling that you had when looking through the signs and symptoms and reading everyone's posts.

Thanks to every one for their welcome and making me feel at home. I think my journey just got a little easier and i'm going to learn a lot.
