Film about Aspergers.

I plan to make a film about AS based on a film I wrote last year. I have Aspergers and have a lot of understanding of the condition. I wondered what sorts of topics would be most important in the film. I would like to cover as many aspects of AS as possible but it is difficult to remember all of the possible traits and aspects in one go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Focus on the lesser known aspects of Aspergers. Everyone knows that we have trouble making friends, but they don't know about sensory issues or things like that. Take the focus away from the obsessional behaviour.

(I like your sig, I have a version of it:

Can you see me :) )

Ha, right hand side.

I hope to focus a lot on sensory issues and plan to show an inside view of these problems. The main obstacle at the moment is writing a list of what these are. Few films have covered things like stimming and memory. I also know of few films that have covered problems with changing routine. This is the list of traits that I am currently trying to assemble.

I will indeed show the character's talents, although I will also show his struggles to prove to people that he is not dumb.

I don't know how you view aspergers, but I personally see it more as a difference than a disability (though I certainly understand how it negatively effects the lives of not only those who have AS, but also those who interact with aspies). I believe the main reason that it is debilitating is simply that the majority of the population doesn't, and can't, fully understand it; therefore, a certain pressure is put on us to act "normal". Anyways, to get to the point, I would love to see a film that not only emphasizes the strengths of an aspie, but also somehow gets the point across that if aspergers was more accepted and embraced it could in many ways actually be an asset.

I hope that all made sense. I apologize if I didn't make my point very clear.

At any rate, good luck on your film. I think it's an awesome undertaking and I wish you the best.

Sounds good. I would definitely go see it. Try and read the dsm and you will see all the symptoms, or just take a subliminal pic of my life story lol.

Okay, I am part way through writing my film. I have written half of my script but it is already an hour long. This means that once the script is finished, I will write another draft removing parts that are perhaps not as relevant as others. The final film will take place over a typical week of the character. Between each day there are flashbacks and voice overs explaining the characters life so far. Sorry if parts are difficult to understand, this is the first part of my first draft. (V.O.) means voice-over for those who aren't too familiar with the format. Any feedback, anything at all, will be greatly appreciated and taken into account.
The vast majority of the story is based on real life. Some of the events in the story happened earlier today. The script can be read or downloaded here: http://pk-productions.dyndns.info/Aspire2.pdf
Thanks
