Feeding crows and hummingbirds

One day, I was enjoying a long ferry ride. People were sprawled out on the lifejacket bins getting tanned. Seagulls were hovering overhead, riding the wind the boat produces. I was eating a sandwich, and tossed a crust up for a gull. Of course, it stooped a meter or so to make the catch, and the young lady directly underneath bailed out.

This past spring, my daughter and I stayed in a hotel at the coast. Here's a video of us feeding the seagulls.

Our hotel room was just overlooking the beach. And so earlier that morning, we were luring seagulls up to our balcony with bread. They nearly came in the room. It was so funny.

It make me laugh, how they remind me of Gollum/Smeagol with how greedy they are.

Winter is thinking about departing, and I am looking forward to when these guys return. Somehow, it's kind of cute to watch them fight over the hummingbird feeder even though they are so aggressive. Small but mighty little fellows.
