Do you hate copycats?

I am right there with you, girl! I have always hated it. In middle school I had a friend who it seemed like copied everything that I did. Like when I got a new phone, she got the same one. When I got a new purse, she got it too. I just like being completely different from everyone and if someone tries to copy me, my individuality feels threatened.

Totally agree. I hate feeling like I am "like" someone. It's extremely frustrating. I want to be myself, not like other people.

I have no idea if this is a "thing" or if it's just me but I HATE copycats. Like, with a passion. When someone copies my style or a tattoo I have or someone else has or my hair color or even sharing something I myself wrote or posted on Facebook (ok that's more of a privacy thing) but I have always hated it and it gets me upset and stressed out. I've had a girl copy the placement of a tattoo and then try to dye her hair purple. The placement on a girl isn't common either.

As a tween and teen I always got pissed when someone jacked my style unless I wanted them to dress like me because I thought it was cool (tall spice girl shoes, men's ties WAY before Avril Lavigne (?) did it, etc). Idk it just pisses me off!

It "shouldn't' piss you off, in the context of how you are explaining it. You should never not remember that many nts desperately want to fit in or, stand out, in a positive light. If they feel they are standing out by copying you, it should be thought of as a compliment. All you have to do is shift your perspective to them and see it through their eyes. They admire you and that is never a bad thing. You should feel flattered, in THOSE types of copycattin

I know exactly how you feel it's so frustrating and annoying,Why can't people be themselves,I've always been different or unique as I'm told or I at least try to be,If people are gonna copy you at least give you some credit for stealing your style,I hate when it's blatent obvious they are mimicking you & then you want to say something but you think you'll hurt their feelings or you'll think you're coming across as childish,It gives me the shits to but I guess all you can do is laugh inside & think ohhh look I've got a little copycat who can't think of his/her own ideas or styles!!

I've never had anyone try to copy me, so I don't know what that feels like. What irks me is when people try to copy others just to make an impression, to suck up, or just to fit in. What I mean is, people who listen to a band just because all their friends are listening, and not because they like the band. Or they start smoking just because their friends are doing it and they want to fit in. I've never felt the need to do something just in order to fit in, and I can't relate to it at all. To me it shows a lack of critical judgement on their part.

Privately I could not care less, I'm not a fashionista in the least. Publicly I hope they do copy me, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and, as a musician who performed on stage, I expect that style to be copied.

I mean, if you want to copy my private style or lack there of, go for it - Wal Mart sells elastic waist cotton shorts and tank tops pretty cheap - no undergarments required. :P
