i always have found that I can trust my dog more than people, pets have always been great friends to me and the most loyal I believe :)

The funny thing is, Dickens is actually my boyfriend's dog, but I find myself on the same page as him. He's a 14 year old dog who doesn't like to be touched and was treated poorly in the place where he was living as a puppy. People in public are always trying to get into his personal space and I have to tell them that he isn't friendly, usually while pulling him back as he barks at them.

One guy wouldn't get the hint though. He had his golden retriever and Dickens was responding as always. So while I was physically restraining the cockerjspaniel, the other dog owner said, "Wow, your dog doesn't seem very friendly."

To which I replied, "Neither am I, go away."

I know this is an old thread, but YES absolutely. I have always found animals much easier to get along with. I'm the person who would seek out a pet at a social gathering or if not, the pet would seek me out. Animals are amazing creatures. They know who their friends are. They're amazing judges of character.

Yes, absolutely though I am alexithymic.

Yep:

People neither understand me, nor accept me. At least my kitties accept me, and I can pretend they understand me. :=)

Yes, I really trust/love my dog more than some people, I mean I can hug a person and feel weird, not very attached, just hug them for social convention but with dogs it's very different, I really hug with affection with meaning.

Yes, I told my therapist once I loved my dog more than my parents and she seemed to think that was weird but its true. Its not that I don't love my parents, I just love my dog more.

I definitely love my cat more than I care about most people in my family (except for my parents, I'd say they're near equal amounts, but different types... also, my cat gives much less practical advice than my mother when it comes to handling paperwork, but I'm digressing). I know it might sound like I'm a horrible person, but part of the logic is that my cat will not hurt me, and also I feel a special connection with this one in particular, I've grown up with quite a bunch, and Charlie here is different, I don't know.

I've also realized that while I do worry often about the sadness and pain I will feel when he passes away, which I hope is not until at least 18 years from now, I get overwhelmed thinking about how I'm going to cope with that grief. I don't feel that same panic when discussing life with my boyfriend, and we've been together for well over a decade now, so I'm positive that I love him.

i think a big part of what eases my panic attacks are living creatures excluding 99% of humans
i wonder if i imprinted on animals

For the first ten years of my cat Kiki's life, I did. She was the only friend that I had, and she looked after me when I am unhappy. She is 14 now. Although I don't spend nearly as much time with her as my husband, she still has a place in my heart.

Me too.
I have a retired racing greyhound called Harry. We adopted him 3 1/2 years ago. He's at home with me all day every day, & a very comforting presence, even though he mostly sleeps.
He gets more kisses & cuddles than my wife does; thankfully she's understanding & not too jealous.
He still runs pretty fast too, considering he'll be 10 in January.

I talk to my cats so often, that I sometimes forget to switch to my "people voice" when talking to my boyfriend. Or accidentally say "hey kitty" to him. Luckily I meow at both of them :D

Yes. I love all pets and would do anything for them. I care about their safety and well being more than most people (a few exceptions of people i really care about) but if i meet a human and a pet at the same time I definitely care for the pet more.
