It can translate video’s official subtitles/captions into almost all widely used languages. To make it work, the video should have at least one official subtitle/caption. SubTrans can also translate external subtitles and supports full screen. It remembers your settings locally so the bilingual subtitles show up every time when you open a new video of a supported site, needless to set up repeatedly.
Another extension is Unitrans which is another YouTube subtitle translator for Chrome that works as per your requirements. It is meant for folks who don’t need a translator all the time. Once you download and install the extension in Chrome, you will be able to select your default language, and you can change it anytime you want.
