Chess, Draughts, Othello & Go

What's your poison?

I've had to stop playing chess because I obsess about black and white squares. I stop myself sleeping, by going over games and moves in my mind.

I love Chess. It's an incredible game, but I suspect my obsessional side means I've been beat on this one. :(

Really?

I thought there would be loads of board game geeks on here.

One game I didn't mention was 'Lines of Action'. Great game.

While I'm into non-digital games (board games, card games, etc.) the ones you listed aren't neccesarily my poison, heh.

Never played Othello or Go though. And I doubt I'll find people to play with.

I'm a passable chess player. I have a hard time seeing all the possibilities everywhere, and I make occasional bonehead blunders. I guess I'm not thorough enough

I'm awful at both chess and checkers (draughts), especially checkers. I've not tried the other two and likely never will.

I prefer some randomness in my games: Scrabble, backgammon, Magic. I can win at those once in a while. ;)

I went through a bit of a chess phase about ten years ago but I haven't played in a while.

Go is really hard. I've played it a little bit on the computer and I never managed to really figure out the basic strategy.

I like playing chess but suck at it, I like to play GO but also I suck at it. I tend to be more of a Yu-Gi-Oh, RP, Stargate RP kinda gal.

I never played many games as a kid, I was an only child, so my non-thinking relatives would give me board games and then I'd have to find a way to play by myself. I do remember loving Othello and Yahtzee with my mom. We don't play games any more in my family.

I play draughts and othello.

However, I think interactive, social board games are great.

I play without strategies, I do things for the fun, not for the win :p

I love chess! I played in tournaments when I was in my 30's. I love the excitement of competition. It got a point that there was so much studying on opening lines, tactics, strategy, etc. that I just got burned out. I still play on my chess computer. Seems like not many people play chess anymore. Hard to find an opponent.
I tried to learn Go. Didn't work out well. Went downtown to the Denver Go Association to get full immersion training. Played a Japanese guy while I was learning. I thought I was doing well tip I saw the big picture. I was completely surrounded! Turns out the guy was a 4th Dan in Go. He stomped the %#?€ out of me. Interesting game though.
