Cherokee - that was the name of my horse. She was a good horse and a good friend. My Mama and I have been having to mend fences almost every day often in several places. The horses were usually still in the pasture when we got there. If they were out they would be nibbling grass not far outside the fence. She was even left stuck multiple times with her foot stuck between the middle and bottom wire and was such a good girl she would stay so still for us to help her. She was even left standing in the water back one time when it snowed and such a good girl when we rescued her. Every time we moved the horses, problems seemed to follow. This pasture has been the worst but we couldn't move them because I couldn't get a job. She got killed in the road early early this morning. Her passing leaves a hole in both mine and my Mama's hearts that will likely never go away in out lifetimes. I want to dedicate this thread to her and hope to discuss some of the good times in later posts. Meanwhile, my Mama went ahead and surrendered her horse to someone where she should be safe because we know she will be dead soon too if we kept her the way things have escalated. Even though her horse is still alive, she will be missed terribly as well.

She was such a gentle horse that I could crawl between her feet. I remember sitting down in the hay back when we had one of those rounds and they would both eat around me. I used to like doing that in the winter to block the cold wind and spend time with them.
