Charting a New Course In Life

Hi, I made a post back earlier in May just contemplating about my struggles in terms of social, financial and physical well being that I thought things weren’t going to get better…well as of early June things have gotten progressively better. I have officially moved back in with my Mom for the time being as a way to settle back in and gather my bearing and since then I have already gotten a part time job which is an overnight position at Walmart working as a stocking associate. This is a job I have never in a million years thought I would be doing but it has provided me some sense on comfort as I am making income again working almost full time at $18 an hour. I am Stocking shelves in the store mainly groceries where I am gathering items from wooden pallets that are stacked up high and staged for the night. It is kind of fun especially so nice I get to listen to music while I’m working, but I am not quite use to the overnight shift as of yet (I work from 10pm-7:00am).

As I have this temporary job going for me I have successfully enrolled back into community college where I am pursuing the medical field of radiology or to be a radiology tech rather. I haven’t attended community college for several years now and already this seems like a good step in resetting myself. I am working my way to be successfully accepted into the two year radiology program as I only need human anatomy and physiology to take as a perquisite course then take the HESI exam geared for the healthcare field and hopefully I will be set for the next Spring semester. Oh I forgot to mention I am retaking college algebra this Summer during the course of 5 weeks as let’s just say I did ok but not great when I took it the first time in 5-6 years ago.
So yeah not much really to complain after a long struggle for quite a while and I’m glad things are really going into the right direction.

I enjoyed working in warehouses for much the same reasons as you describe about shelf stacking. Fairly easy and repetitive work that also gives your body a bit of exercise, not too much social interaction, and pays reasonably well.

Dillon your news is fantastic well done and it's certainly inspiring for me.im just recovering from a major op and looking to change things in my life for the better and seeing how you hsve achieved this gives me some great ideas.well done again

That's great news, and you sound like you are feeling much better about your future. We have shortages of staff at our hospitals here.
I know places in and around North Texas where I’m staying at now there are shortages of hospital staff including nurses. Radiology has some critical shortages but not the amount as the 50,000 vacancies there are with nursing/ medical assistant positions.
