Can dating be or is dating actually fun?

When I think of dating, the first thing that pops into my head is the music for the shower scene of the film "Psycho". Too many preconceived social conventions and rituals for me to want to deal with.

I'd rather make friends with someone first. Socialization/fraternization at a much less stressful level.
