Awaiting diagnosis (hi :D)

Hi everyone!

I'm a 31 year old woman and just last week went to the best neurological specialist here in my country and after some tests and an interview she told me she definitely thinks I have Asperger's! I'm so relieved.. All my life I've tried hard to be "normal" with little success. I have learnt in my late twenties to act social and seem "normal". So my diagnosis might come as a surprise to many of my friends. My mother is still in denial, but oh well, that's her problem. I still have to go through some tests, that will characterize the state of my Asperger and then I'll know for sure, yay! So happy :bounce:

I'm so glad to have found this forum and can't wait to get active here and meet you all :)

xoxo

A big hug, and welcome.
We understand the relief you feel, and the happy feeling of finally knowing lives with me to this day. When I found out, in an instant, things going all the way back to my childhood made sense. My life has been both difficult and delightful. I am happy now in a way that I have never known. Not euphoria, but I have a new peace.
We all come here for the same reason, we get each other, and so we are like family. Here, you will find familiar, revealing and comfortable. All of those friends from childhood, before we were old enough to understand that there were differences.
Sit back, take a deep breath, and enjoy what God gave you.

Thank you so much, Peace! I'm so happy (getting diagnosed with AS and finding this place)!! I haven't really been happy in my life, in a very, very long time :( So it takes getting used to >.<

Welcome Hadassah! Glad you have found some answers pertaining to the past & autism. Though it does take some time for it to sink in. I'm just really learning now though I did find out several years ago. Enjoy the new journey!

HI!!!!! Big welcome to the AC. I was diagnosed first when I was getting my Masters degree in my late twenties and re-evaluated again just a few months ago I am now 31yrs old. So yah its great that you are diagnosed even if its late. What kind of tests are you getting done? All my stuff was done in one day but then again I was just be re-evaluated most of my information was given by my internship supervisor. Oh and thanks for joining my doll group. I am happy to have you.

I love BJD-dolls too, so glad to be part of the group :) I don't exactly now what tests, but it will take a day too and they are doing all of the tests that concern Aspergers.

Whoa! You only just joined the Forums yesterday and you're already on 26 posts, girl you are on fire.

So tell us a little bit about yourself, any qualifications and/or skills, any aspirations for a future career?

Haha! Well as an aspie I get obsessed with things and now it's this forum, lol ;)

Aww, thanks for asking :) Well, I learnt how to sing by myself (obsessively rehearsing and time-dedication as a teen) and now have performed in various (smaller things) places as a solo. Only now I'm taking singing lessons for breathing techinques but the teacher (classical singer) said I already sound very good. Which I appreciate very much, because I don't really like myself otherwise, apart from my voice.

I also pretty much learned to speak English before they started teaching it here in schools (third grade).

I'm stuck in my job, have been since 19.. Because you don't really have to interact with people in it. I'm a typist.

Ps. @Craig Your posts are awesome to read >.<
