What is Autscape?
Autscape is a three day residential conference in the UK organised by and for autistic people.
There are workshops, leisure activities, social opportunities, and more, all specifically oriented to the needs and preferences of autistic people.

Autscape welcomes participants from across the spectrum, and sympathetic non-autistic people.
By the very nature of the event, we are primarily oriented to autistic people's needs and interests,
but there is much to be learned and enjoyed for an open minded non-autistic person.

Participants of all ages are welcome to attend, but children and young people under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Childcare is provided for children up to 16 during daytime workshop hours at a ratio of 1 childcare worker to 6 children.

People who need a full time carer, who don't use speech, or who may otherwise consider themselves 'too severe' are specifically encouraged to attend.
No matter where on or off the spectrum you find yourself, there is no need to be afraid that you won't fit in.
Diversity enriches the experience for everyone.

Meh, I'll just wait till next year when I don't need to go with an adult. It'll come quick, it came very quick this year since it seems like yesterday they were doing autscape 09.

Can't make it, got too much going on my mind and I would need all that money first of all because my college is very expensive and I would already need £80 per month for my lunch and my travel... (Oh yes, I have my EMA which helps alot).

Sorry, can't make it this time round. If it was in London, then maybe?

I mght go next year but I doubt it.
I'd rather to talk to NTs tbh... What would you do there? Spend hours talking about how amazing it is to be socially defective? Lol...
I can understand for people who are lower functioning, but I don't see the appeal for some pretty high functionig and mild in going.
EMZ=]

Sounds alright to me :P WOOOOO! Yeah I'm awesome coz I'm socially retarded and shiiit :showoff: Better than complaining I guess

Rofl.
I honestly don't know what I'd talk to other people with AS about.
The awesome people I talk to who have AS don't talk about it or rarely. It's annoying when I'm talking to someone with AS and they just dive into what it's like to have AS when it's not something I'm interested in tbh.

Yeah me and my AS friends rarely if ever talk about it. My closest friend does sometimes though but that's just when we're joking around and having a laugh about it.

Asperger Syndrome is much more than a 'social defect'. Asperger Syndrome is a whole world.
Many aspies have great similarities with one another. Many of us form deep friendships with each other.
For many of us, neurotypicals are the ones who are 'socially defective' and we are the ones who are normal.
I met some of my best friends at past Autscapes. I'm looking forward to going again this year.

I have to somewhat agree on this. I will talk about it if its being discussed at the time, or if someone wants info about it, etc, but its a topic I normally avoid otherwise. I typically don't bring it up. I couldn't go to this event, as I live in the US, but I really wouldn't know what to do at a venture like that. I guess it would interesting to see some other ASD people, as I have never(officially) met any, but aside from that, not sure what I would do...
